A team from Kier Construction donned their 'scruffs' and took up rollers and paint brushes to help Parkfield School in Bournemouth carry out some much-needed refurbishments.

With paint donated by Dulux, the team, which was also made up of volunteers from Mace and Stride Treglown as well as the head teacher, staff and even family, set about painting two eight-storey stairwells for the school.

Kier Construction director, Martin Orr, who was one of the volunteers, commented: "It's really great to be able to give something back to the communities in which we work. The temporary accommodation at Parkfield School was completely refurbished in ten weeks, the final bit however needed some help. There was certainly no shortage of willing volunteers to repaint the back-of-house staircases which otherwise would have had to have gone untouched.

"We had a very productive day, the team worked well together and we had a great deal of fun while we were doing it!"

Parkfield School is an all-through, 4 to 19 years, co-educational school that operates as part of the Government's Free Schools programme which allows local people to shape schools in line with what they consider to be beneficial to improving education for children in their community.
