Altrad has acquired the Trad Group, which operates a London-based scaffolding contracting business and also supplies non-mechanical access systems, builders' equipment and safety products nationwide.
Trad, which is based in east London, has approximately 450 employees and an estimated annual turnover of £45m. Its sales activity operates through a UK branch network supplying access equipment, scaffolding, system scaffolding, fencing, and fall prevention products.
"This acquisition forms part of the bigger plan to provide the large UK market with products and services from Altrad, which specialises in the manufacture and sale of scaffolding, cement mixers and wheelbarrows, together with providing additional contracting services in the scaffolding sector," said Ray Neilson, MD of Altrad Belle, who has been assisting on the acquisitions.
French-based Altrad now owns over 80 companies, with the majority being located in Europe. Its previous acquisitions in the UK include Baromix, Belle Group, Beaver 84, NSG, Generation Hire & Sales and MTD Scaffolding.
