ISG Scoops Multi-Millon Pound Contract

ISG has been awarded a multi-million project to build a new UK headquarters in Leeds for leading healthcare IT business, TPP (The Phoenix Partnership).

The Horsforth-based company has committed its future to the West Yorkshire town and will relocate its operations to the new purpose-built accommodation less than half a mile from its existing office location.

The project sees ISG construct an 85,000 sq ft head office building for TPP on a sloping site, which incorporates two levels of under croft car parking facilities. The four-storey, steel frame structure has been carefully designed by Bowman Riley Architects to complement the existing built environment – with a frontal, road-side elevation of traditional Yorkshire stone with a pitched tiled roof. The rear façade has a more contemporary design with extensive curtain walling and rain screen cladding panels.

A key feature of the new building is the virtual absence of columns across the four main floor plates, with ISG installing a series of delta beams which span up to 17m within the main office areas to provide uninterrupted sight lines from front to rear. At ground floor level, TPP’s new headquarters will boast a high specification main reception area with a double height, light filled atrium, and a combination of cellular and open plan office accommodation to the rear of the building.

Targeting a BREEAM very good environmental performance rating, the office is mostly naturally ventilated, via roof-mounted wind catchers and features brise soleil shading panels to regulate solar gain. Externally, ISG will carry out landscaping works, installing retaining gabion wall structures and create further car parking provision, with the project scheduled for completion in spring 2015.
