Apprentices Welcomed To Kier Sites

Ten apprentices were welcomed to their new positions at Kier sites across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire this month, continuing the company's commitment to training young people and supporting them into meaningful employment. All aged between 16 and 19, the apprentices have been appointed to work across a number of professional trades including painting, plumbing and joinery.

During their time with Kier the new recruits will move around the business to gain a variety of experience while working towards a full apprenticeship qualification in their chosen trade. They will also have opportunities to carry out additional training sessions at local colleges and work alongside dedicated mentors who can share their wealth of industry experience.

Kier currently employs apprentices across all of its contracts in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire who are carrying out qualifications and on-the-job training in a range of trades including plastering, heat and vent fitting, gas engineering, electrical and plumbing. These most recent apprenticeships will last between three and four years, depending on the training.

Kier Regional Director, Simon Bullen, said: "We are committed to helping young people develop careers in many different construction trades. It is important that, as a sector, we continue to invest in the future generation. Delivering on our promises for education, training and employment is beneficial for the people in our local areas and wherever possible we strive to have a positive impact on the communities in which we work."
