Steve Murphy General Secretary of construction union UCATT, has strongly welcomed Labour's commitment to be building 200,000 homes a year by 2020.
Mr Murphy, said: "Our current housing crisis is a result of a failure to build a sufficient number of homes especially council housing for decades. This is the first time that a political party is seriously addressing this crisis which is affecting Britain socially and economically.”
"Labour is committed to getting Britain building housing. This will give genuine hope to people whose lives are blighted by homelessness or inadequate overcrowded housing. A house building programme on this scale would also give a massive boost to the construction industry providing a huge number of new jobs."
