Skanska UK has been awarded the groundworks contract to deliver UK Power Networks (UKPN) projects in London.
The framework is valued at £9 million a year, £45 million in total. The contract is due to start on 28 October 2013 and will last for three years with an option for two further years. It will involve the TUPE transfer of staff from Laing O’Rourke.
The scope of works includes the planning and installation of all new electrical connection projects on behalf of UKPN in and around the capital.
The contract award follows Skanska's success in securing a similar project win for the Southern area groundworks and electrical services contract for UKPN earlier this year. This is worth £30m per annum, for a period of three years with an option for two further years. Skanska is already carrying out works across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
