Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded a contract with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), to provide support services to 10 British embassies and consulates across Spain.
The new two-year contract will start in September 2013, with an option to extend by up to two years, and will see Interserve delivering cleaning, waste management, and hygiene services in cities including Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga, Ibiza, Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Interserve will act as a single point of contact and self-deliver the large majority of services, avoiding the need for the FCO to manage multiple providers.
The new contract is in addition to Interserve's existing seven-year contract, worth circa £70m, to provide facilities management services for the FCO's UK estate and 14 diplomatic missions in Europe.
Brian Talbot, Managing Director of Defence at Interserve, said: "We have a strong history of working with the FCO. This new contract extends our reach into new sites across Spain, and strengthens our relationship with the FCO for whom we currently provide support services at various locations across Europe."
