Amey has been awarded a contract by Welsh Water to deliver water services in South Wales, with the £18m per annum contract commencing in October 2013 and running for up to six years.

It will see Amey take on responsibility for repairing and maintaining around 20,000km of clean water pipes, as well as meter installation and new connections, in an area stretching as far west as Pembrokeshire, north to Ceredigion, east to Herefordshire, and south to Glamorgan.

The award of the contract follows Amey being appointed as emergency contractor for Welsh Water in May 2013 for a period of five months when the previous contractor went into administration.
