UCATT members at Kier Services have voted overwhelmingly for strike action, in a dispute over the company imposing a change in the date the workforce is paid.

UCATT members voted by a margin of almost three to one in favour of strike action, with 74.4% in favour of this form of industrial action.

On the question of whether members were in favour of taking part in industrial action short of strike action, 86.3% of members were in favour.

Steve Murphy, General Secretary of construction union UCATT, said: "I hope that Kier's management now understands the depth of anger among our workers on this issue. Kier and UCATT now need to negotiate a resolution to this dispute."

The turnout in the postal ballot was 44.4%.
