Phase Two Of £50 Regeneration Project Begins

The first phase of a £50m regeneration project in West Bromwich town centre has been completed.

VINCI Construction UK completed the Tesco-led main contract, which began in October 2011.

More than 10,000 square metres of retail space has been completed, along with seven restaurant units, the shell of the Tesco store and a five-screen Odeon cinema.

Project Manager Sean Delaney said: "The local community has shown so much support and excitement for this multi-use retail and leisure development and we have swiftly moved on to the next phase, which will see us through to completion in September of this year."

Phase two of the project is now well underway. The units and pedestrian malls have been handed over and work is continuing on car parking areas.

The full project will be officially open to the public in September 2013.
