Orbit Housing Group has chosen Lovell, the affordable house builder and regeneration specialist, to build 12 new bungalows in Milton Keynes.
The bungalows will be the first new council houses in the borough for 15 years.
Orbit was selected by Milton Keynes Council to design and build the 12 wheelchair-standard bungalows, and has been carrying out community consultation as well as obtaining detailed planning consent. It has subcontracted all building work to Lovell.
George Obeng-Manu, Head of Construction at Orbit, commented: "Lovell are one of our framework partners and we chose to work with them on this project because of their excellent track record in delivering quality schemes for us on time and on budget."
The properties are being built in Briar Hill, Stacey Bushes and once completed, they will be owned and managed directly by the council. The properties will be a mix of one and two bedroom bungalows. Milton Keynes Council says there are over 100 households in Milton Keynes that need wheelchair standard housing and these 12 are just the start of meeting that need.
