Fit out and refurbishment specialist Overbury, and construction and infrastructure company, Morgan Sindall - both Morgan Sindall Group businesses - have won a £16.5m contract to refurbish and expand a student accommodation development for Imperial College London.
The design and build project involves Overbury working with Morgan Sindall to extend and revitalise the Wilson House halls of residence at Sussex Gardens. The architect on the project is Berman Guedes Stretton, with Morgan Sindall overseeing the design elements of the development.
Wilson House, which comprises a terrace of 21 listed buildings that have been converted by Imperial College London to serve as student halls of residence, are being renovated and expanded to provide high-quality student accommodation close to the university.
Overbury will refurbish the existing student accommodation in Wilson House, while Morgan Sindall is constructing a new development at the rear of the site, increasing the total number of bed spaces in the accommodation from 273 to 393. The new building will feature communal student facilities such as kitchens and social spaces.
