Almost 200 new affordable homes will be built after Manchester's registered home providers won a share of a £56 million funding package for the North West, provided by the Homes and Communities Agency

Manchester City Council have worked in partnership with some of the city's successful housing providers – Adactus, Great Places, The Guinness Trust, New Charter Housing Trust Limited (working with Wythenshawe Community Housing) and Southway Housing Trust Ltd – to identify sites across the city suitable for housing development.

The building programmes will deliver 143 affordable rent properties and 38 shared ownership properties across the city, providing residents a genuine pathway on the housing market through shared ownership, as well as a range of other tenure options – including the delivery of market rent properties on two of the identified sites, offering a real choice to residents.

This month, Manchester City Council announced its commitment to new home building through the Residential Growth Prospectus – a strategy for new home building up to 2027 – and partnership working with the city’s housing providers is a central approach in delivering the homes required to fulfil demand in to the future.
