International management and construction consultancy, Gleeds, has recently been appointed as project manager, cost manager and CDM co-ordinator to the £70 million transformation of 300 of the Post Office’s 'Crown' branches across the UK.
The firm will also be responsible for managing branch by branch design specifications which includes the provision of M&E consultancy services.
Works will range from refreshing existing outlets; revising internal layouts and creating private consultation areas, to complete refurbishments and refits, as well as the relocation of some operations to newly identified 'host stores'. The aim of the extensive re-development is to improve the overall customer experience and subsequently the profitability of the entire Crown network all over the country.
Gleeds will be utilising their new bespoke online information management service, GleedsSpace, which provides teams with a secure hub of information, accessible from anywhere via the internet and backed up by expert consultancy and a UK helpdesk. With up to 55 schemes live on site at any one time, this will allow geographically dispersed project leaders to maximise efficiency and work from the latest design revisions communicating in “real time” rather than having to wait for reports.
Works are expected to be completed across all 300 projects by October 2014.
