BAM's Bristol-based construction business has been appointed to refurbish and refit an office block to house around 200 Imperial Tobacco employees in south Bristol at the company's new UK headquarters.
The £7m refurbishment includes a range of modern facilities including a staff canteen and high specification office space. BAM is aiming for a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating, with sustainability measures including photovoltaic cells, biomass boilers and rainwater harvesting.
The two-storey building is on the same site as the old cigar factory on Winterstoke Road in Ashton. This was demolished in August 2011 to make way for Imperial Tobacco's new global head office, also built by BAM and completed earlier this year.
BAM's Construction Director Nick Goff said: "We're delighted Imperial Tobacco has chosen to work with BAM again on this important building for its UK staff. It's testament to our work on their new global head office that a company of such stature has selected us for this equally important project next door. We look forward to using our skills and experience to ensure the scheme benefits the local community and environment as much as it does the staff of Imperial Tobacco."
Work is expected to start during July 2013 and is scheduled to finish in July 2014. The designer is AWW Architects.
