Balfour Beatty has joined an effort to boost recognition of the construction industry in the Welsh capital.
The international infrastructure business joined other leading contractors addressing regional politicians and strategic planners in Cardiff to make the case for investing more in infrastructure in the UK.
During the event, Balfour Beatty presented a case study on the Wrexham Industrial Access Road, a scheme which has been shown to have helped to provide hundreds of business and employment opportunities in what is now one of the UK's largest industrial estates.
The attendees were also addressed by Edwina Hart AM, Welsh Government Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, who outlined the significance of the construction industry to economic regeneration and the Welsh Government's plans for an additional £1.3 billion for construction spending.
'Creating Britain's Future' is a campaign from the UK Contractors Group (UKCG) to make the case for greater investment in infrastructure and for providing proof that construction drives growth.
Research from the UKCG has recently found that investment in construction is one of the most effective ways to stimulate the economy, generating local jobs and kick-starting growth. Construction is a jobs creator and employs 3.1m people which represents 10.5% of the UK workforce.
