Balfour Beatty, through its Cowlin brand, has been awarded a £6.3 million contract at Southmead Hospital, Bristol for the North Bristol NHS Trust.

The project at Westbury-on-Trym involves the design and construction of a new four-storey extension to the existing Learning and Research building at the hospital.

As well as providing accommodation for Trust offices and research laboratories, the project will also include expansion of the hospital library and the reconfiguration of various areas of the existing Learning & Research building.

This project, which is due for completion in Spring 2014, adds to Balfour Beatty's extensive track record of new build and refurbishment work to improve existing health estates.
