Wates Construction has commenced a strategic expansion of its Northern Home Counties and East region with the appointment of Peter Whitmore as Regional Business Unit Director.

In a significant move to strengthen its senior team, the appointment comes as Wates prepares to grow its presence in the commercial, schools and higher education sectors.

Previously Regional MD for the South West with Morgan Sindall, he will now oversee both the Cambridge and Luton offices. With over 20 years experience in the construction industry, Peter has returned to the East where he progressed his career and where his reputation was established.

Whitmore will now oversee Wates' current portfolio for the region, which includes the £8m TOKKO My Place facility in Luton, £37m Crest Academy, Brent and £21m University of Essex Forum Project.

He commented: "Wates' Northern Home Counties and East region has a proven track record of delivering construction excellence for a range of projects spanning the education and commercial sectors.
