The team behind the proposed Rhiannon offshore wind farm has announced their support for Coleg Menai's engineering apprentices in Anglesey and North West Wales.

Starting in September, Celtic Array will be investing a total of £85k to support six new apprentices through a three year engineering apprenticeship run by the college's new apprentice employment company Cwmni Prentis Menai. Other supporters include the Anglesey Energy Island Skills Group.

Rhiannon Development Manager, Kirsty McGuinness, said: "Whether these young apprentices choose to pursue a career in the energy industry or another path entirely, we're delighted to be in a position to support the next generation of engineers in the region."

With an estimated capacity of up to 2.2 GW, the Rhiannon wind farm would be situated some 19km off the coast of Anglesey and would be capable of producing enough energy to serve the needs of around 1.7 million homes.
