UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre picked up two awards at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards.

The Skanska project was presented with a National Award – beating off stiff competition from a shortlist of around fifty projects. University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust won the Client of the Year 2013 Award, which was presented to Kieran McDaid, Director of Capital Investment at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

As well as picking up the National Award accolade, the project will be shortlisted for the prestigious Stirling Prize, due to be announced later this year.

The RIBA awards recognise architectural excellence – National Award winners are buildings that set the standard for good architecture.

Skanska was the main contractor on the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre project which opened its doors to patients in April 2012. The award-winning project has been recognised with numerous accolades including the prestigious Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award. John Birch, project director, also won the Construction Manager of the Year award in November 2012.
