Kier Construction was named Contractor of the Year for the second consecutive year at the North West Regional Construction Awards 2013.

The awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate outstanding examples of best practice in the north-west built environment sector. They recognise exceptional companies and projects from across the region that have demonstrated strength, passion and commitment in a collaborative and sustainable manner.

In addition to winning Contractor of the Year, Kier was highly commended in the Leadership and People Development category. And, assistant site manager Holly Brunt was acknowledged, being highly commended for the Young Achiever Award.

Kier client Cheshire West and Chester Council also celebrated winning Client of the Year, following its nomination by Kier.

Roy Stewart, operations director of the Centre for Construction Innovation, said: "Once again, all the judges could not believe the quality of the submissions; even in these tough economic times, the construction industry in the north-west continues to produce quality projects, with quality companies, people and clients, delivering added value in everything they do. In these times of 'more for less', the industry here in the north-west shines as a beacon of best practice and innovation."
