The Highways Agency has awarded leading highways service provider EnterpriseMouchel (EM) the prestigious Area 3 Asset Support Contract (ASC). The appointment will see EM operate, maintain and improve the strategic road in South Central England.
EM is the current service provider in Area 3 having been appointed as the Highways Agency's Managing Agent Contractor in 2008. The new ASC contract will commence on 1st November 2013 and will run until 2018 with extensions possible until 2021. The contract is worth up to £700m over five years.
The Area 3 network consists of approximately 1,242km of motorways and trunk roads in Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The network provides essential links to Heathrow and Southampton airports and the docks of Southampton and Portsmouth whilst also serving the popular south coast holiday resorts of Bournemouth and Poole.
Re-winning the Area 3 contract will allow the Highways Agency, EM and its Supply Chain Community to continue their award winning collaborative partnership to deliver better value to the communities we serve.
Dave Wright, EM Managing Director, said: "I am delighted that EM has been awarded the Area 3 Asset Support Contract. Having successfully delivered our current portfolio of MAC contracts to a high standard, consistently featuring in the upper quartile of the Highways Agency's performance metrics, I am confident we can make this latest ASC contract an exemplar. We are committed to delivering to the Highways Agency's vision of Safe Roads, Reliable Journeys and Informed Travellers through EM's strong core focus on the safety, asset management and delivering better value year on year."
