Mansell Unearths Ancient Relics On Development Site

Mansell, a Balfour Beatty brand, has unearthed ancient relics dating back to the Bronze Age on an Aster Group affordable housing development site in Amesbury, Wiltshire.

Six Saxon skeletons dating back 1,000 years and round barrows dating back to the Bronze Age have been discovered a few miles from the world-famous UNESCO heritage site, Stonehenge.

The remains are thought to be those of adolescent to mature males and females. Five skeletons were arrayed around a small circular ditch, with the skull of a sixth in a nearby trench. Two lots of beads and a shale bracelet, likely to be either Pagan or Christian, were also discovered with the remains.

The site is now being excavated for other artefacts by Wessex Archaeology, led by Time Team's Phil Harding, who delivered a presentation on the findings.
