Interserve Completes New Facility In Plymouth

Interserve has finished construction on the first of two new facilities in Plymouth that will benefit military personnel and veterans undergoing recovery.

Help for Heroes is supporting the initiative with a £21 million commitment. Celebrating the occasion, the co-founders of Help for Heroes, Bryn and Emma Parry, addressed a select gathering of military guests and those involved in the project, which is part of HMS Drake's larger Naval Service Recovery Centre.

'Parker VC' is a specialist adaptive accommodation facility with sixty single 'cabins' and six family 'cabins'. It has been built on a brownfield site, is a steel frame construction with composite floor, Metsec inner leaf and Forticrete outer leaf, featuring brick for its upper three floors and composite aluminium and timber windows.

The building's reception area, function room and bedrooms have been fitted out to an incredibly high standard to offer the wounded, injured and sick the very best facilities for their recovery. There is even an attractive rooftop terrace featuring restful planting schemes.

Bryn Parry, CEO and Co-Founder of Help for Heroes, said of working with Interserve: "We are one of Interserve's 'charities of the year'. Right from the beginning they really got what this project is all about. It's been a fantastic partnership with them, and the wonderful facilities they are developing will make a huge difference to the lives of servicemen and women who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses."
