A total of 46 new homes have been completed at Hopes Carr as part of the first phase of the Covent Garden Village in Stockport.

The overall vision for the project could see up to 250 high-quality family homes, news shops and attractive public space created, to help build and develop a sustainable community where families can live, work and spend leisure time.

The second phase of the development is currently underway and consists of a further 41 homes.

Both Stockport Homes and Stockport Council have worked closely with the Homes and Communities Agency, Seddons and ID4Living to deliver the project over a two-year programme.

Upon the completion of Phase One, Helen McHale, Chief Executive of Stockport Homes said: "We were really proud to be the first Arms Length Management Organisation to receive Housing Corporation (forerunner to HCA) funding in 2009 to build new properties. Four years on we have built 93 new homes, including adapted properties and we have another 49 in progress."

The two, four-storey blocks, Hempshaw House and Brook House, have been named after Hempshaw Brook, which runs under the buildings. The apartments, which are for social rent, benefit from a full concierge service and underground car parking.
