Work is underway on new homes for South Normanton which will help address the desperate need for affordable housing in the area.
The £3.4 million scheme, part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and delivered in partnership with Bolsover District Council and Westleigh Developments, will provide 33 homes.
It is the first in the area for Derbyshire-based affordable house builder, Futures Housing Group. The development on Carter Lane will feature 10 three-bedroom houses, 22 two-bedroom houses and a one-bedroom flat.
Investment of more than £700,000 from the HCA through the Affordable Homes Programme is supporting the scheme.
Christine Parker, from the development project team at Futures Housing Group, said: "We're excited about investing in South Normanton and providing a range of two and three-bedroom homes to local families. Both local people and Bolsover District Council recognise the need for more affordable homes, where it's reported house prices are nearly six times the average income. This scheme will make best use of land by rebuilding quality, affordable homes on brownfield sites. We’re delighted to be extending our reach for the benefit of residents in neighbouring areas to those we have traditionally covered."
