A development of 71 new affordable homes for rent, shared ownership and purchase in south Liverpool has been named Best Affordable Housing Development in the LABC North West Building Excellence Awards.
The award was made to the Mill Brook development because the relationship between developers Compendium Living, a partnership between Birkenhead-based affordable housing specialist Lovell and housing association Riverside, and Liverpool City Council's building control department led to cost savings and improved standards of construction. The project team is made up of Compendium Living, DK-Architects and Betts Associates.
LABC chief executive Paul Everall said: "Our regional Building Excellence Awards are an opportunity to celebrate good practice. All our winners demonstrated how attention to detail and a positive working relationship with building control departments can achieve high quality and sustainable buildings fit for the future. Our awards are unique because they recognise how the work of local authority surveyors helps to improve building standards and boost sustainability and efficiency."
