Utilities MD Scoops Gas Industry Award

Utilities managing director of Skanska UK, Peter Jones, has been named MD of the Year at the 2013 Gas Industry Awards.

Considered the industry Oscars, Peter beat stiff competition to win the accolade at the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers / Energy and Utilities Alliance awards.

Since moving from a civil engineering environment to the utilities sector, Peter has used an innovative approach to developing a strategic plan for Skanska utilities.

Skanska Executive Vice-President Bill Hocking said: "I'm delighted for Peter. This award recognises the huge amount of work he has put into making Skanska utilities such a success.

"Peter has been responsible for developing and delivering the goals set out in our 2015 utilities business plan. This has seen us successfully close out existing work and win new business.

"Peter is very much a leader in his field, where he actively promotes and embeds a culture of innovation, sustainability and health and safety. It also demonstrates our strength in depth, with Peter and the quality of our work recognised at an industry level."
