Mansell and Warrington Borough Council recently marked the start of a £6 million redevelopment scheme on the former Woolston High School site, Warrington.

The project comes as a result of the Council's investment in providing improved facilities for children and young people with special education needs.

Mansell has been appointed to redevelop the existing facilities at the former Woolston High School site to provide high quality, modern and suitable education facilities for children attending Fox Wood Community Special School and Green Lane Community Special School. As soon as accommodation is available, all staff and pupils from these two schools will relocate to Woolston and operate as two separate co-located schools on the same site, sharing the new specialist teaching, learning and therapy facilities.

One of the existing Woolston High School buildings will also be refitted to accommodate Warrington's first post-16 education centre for young people with special needs, giving more 16-25 year olds with special needs the chance to continue their education in the town.

Peter Commins, Regional Managing Director for Mansell said: "Mansell is very pleased to have been chosen as the constructor partner for the development of the facilities for children and young people with special educational needs at Woolston".

Mansell will hand over the new school in spring 2014.
