Senior Manager Inspires Construction Apprentices

A senior manager at Keepmoat, one of Britain's biggest housebuilders has gone 'back to the floor' to inspire the next generation of construction apprentices.

Keepmoat Regional Operations Manager Sean Corcoran began his career as an apprentice joiner more than 25 years ago.

He is currently responsible for overseeing multi-million pound contracts on behalf of the Yorkshire-based housing and regeneration specialist.

Sean recently took time out from his management role to meet apprentices working on an eco-refurbishment scheme in Leeds.

During the visit he met apprentices who are learning the skills needed to become a joiner.

Sean said: "It really took me back and made me realise how far I've come in the three decades since setting out on my career.

"I hope I was able to show the apprentices who are just starting out that this is just the beginning for them. An apprenticeship can be a stepping stone to a long and rewarding career."

Sean was able to see first hand the improvement work which is being carried out to 180 homes by Keepmoat on behalf of Leeds City Council.

Apprentices are helping deliver external wall insulation as part of the Government’s Green Deal Demonstrator project. The £1.3million project will make homes warmer, greener and cheaper to run.
