Carmarthenshire County Council's Executive Board has agreed to lease part of Hendy Park to Llanedi Community Council at a peppercorn rent so that plans to create a Multi Use Games Area at the site can move forward.
As part of a bid to regenerate the park, the community council has worked with local authority grants officers to apply for funding of almost £150,000 to deliver the MUGA facility.
The community council has carried out extensive consultation, set up a voluntary committee of people who will manage the facility day to day, and has taken on full responsibility for all maintenance, utilities and insurance at the site.
As a result, the county council's Executive Board has agreed a 25-year lease of part of the land at Hendy Park for recreational use.
