Northampton Borough Council has chosen Lovell as one of the contractors who will carry out the next phase of Decent Homes improvements to 6,200 council homes.

Lovell is already working with NBC on Phase 2 of the Decent Homes contract, which runs out in March 2014 but now has an additional four-year, £25 million contract starting this April.

This will be the third phase of Decent Homes improvements in Northampton and the work taking place will include rewiring, heating and the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms. In addition to the internal improvements Lovell was also appointed to undertake the major structural and thermal improvement works to Non-Traditional housing in the borough.

Twelve contractors submitted tenders for the work and three were chosen. Tenants and officers were involved in the evaluation process, which looked at price and quality, and included visits to the contractor's sites.

David Gough, regional director of Lovell in the Midlands, said: "We're delighted to win this new contract and be in a position to continue to work with Northampton Borough Council as it completes its Decent Homes work. With all homes soon to be up to Decent Homes standard, residents will really notice the difference and I hope they enjoy the renewed comfort of their refurbished homes."
