Planning Approved For Schools In Hillingdon

Three schools in Hillingdon have received the green light by the council's planning committee to commence work as part of the Hillingdon School Expansion Plan to help ensure every child in the borough has a school place.

Planning applications have been approved for Heathrow Primary School, West Drayton Primary School, and the creation of a new school facility at the RAF Uxbridge site.

Hillingdon Council is investing over £149m on its ambitious building programme for schools, the largest of its kind in London, which aims to address the increasing demand for primary school places in the borough.

•The application for construction of a two storey extension to Heathrow Primary School has been approved, subject to conditions. The application also includes the addition of a Multi-Use Games Area, the re-organisation of the onsite car park and the provision of cycle and scooter parking.

•West Drayton Primary School has received permission to erect a two storey building to accommodate 8 classrooms, a staff room and ancillary accommodation. The school will also benefit from a Multi-Use Games Area, external toilet building, relocated car parking and landscaping.

•The landscaping, layout and scale plans for redeveloping the former RAF Uxbridge site into a primary school facility have also been approved by the planning committee.

Cllr David Simmonds, Cabinet Member for Education and Children's Services, said: "There is an increasing demand for primary school places and the school building programme will ensure that Hillingdon's schools have the capacity to take extra classrooms in line with this trend.

"I am pleased to see that we are putting the needs of the borough's children first and work is underway to put these plans in place and ensure that the demand for extra places is met."
