The Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage, Huw Lewis concluded his visit to China with a visit to a social housing project in Chongqing.
The Min Xin Jia Yuan public-rental development, launched in 2011, is considered the city’s flagship project and provides affordable rental housing for poorer residents moving into the city from the outlying countryside districts.
The Minister said: "Chongqing is one of the fastest developing areas in China, and it will be fascinating to get an insight into how they are responding to the need for more affordable rental housing in that context."
Earlier during his visit to China the Minister officially opened the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales: Wales, Land of the Red Dragon exhibition in the China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing.
The Minister added: "This visit has given Welsh culture, academia and our rich history an important international stage.
"These kinds of cultural links are important for their own ends, but increased cultural understanding is also a fundamental building block of improved economic relations, and I know that Welsh businesses will also benefit from these developing links."
