Six Town Housing has established a group of "Energy Champions" made of volunteer members of the community, who receive free specialised training to help spread the word to other tenants on how to save energy and money.

Tenants from around Bury have been welcomed to receive training focussed on:

•Background on energy efficiency and fuel poverty

•Fuel poverty, health impacts and how to identify who is at risk


•Gain an understanding on the importance of heating controls

•Giving tips and advice on energy efficiency

•How to reduce condensation

Tenants also receive reflector radiator panels, cold alarms and draft excluders.

Dorothy from Chesham Tenants and Residents Association said: "I didn't know what to expect but thought that the training might be a little boring, but it wasn't, it was great. The training was well set out, it was just enough information to take in and remember it, the handouts are brilliant and useful and I got a lot out of coming on the session. This will help Chesham TRA to help Chesham tenants and residents."
