Demand for properties at East Grinstead's new retirement village, Charters Village, was unprecedented, with eight apartments and chalet bungalows were snapped up during a recent three-day launch event.
Under construction by Kier, Charters Village is a purpose-built retirement community on the northern fringes of East Grinstead, West Sussex. Building work is currently under way on six two-bedroom bungalows and 27 apartments, alongside a 60-bed nursing and residential centre. Kier is also extending and refurbishing the mansion at the centre of the 16-acre site which will become the village's clubhouse.
The chance to reserve a property off plan was offered at the launch of the village which attracted visitors from as far afield as Portsmouth and Nottingham. A scale model, exhibition and computer generated fly-through DVD were all available to view.
"We knew from the conversations we’d already had with local people that the launch of Charters Village was eagerly anticipated," said Sarah Burgess, the sales and marketing director for owners Retirement Villages Ltd. "But we were delighted to discover just how committed people were to wanting to live there."
