Kier Partnership Homes has celebrated the start of work on the redevelopment of Seymour Court in Cambridge with a bricklaying ceremony attended by Cllr Catherine Smart.

Part funded by the Homes and Community Agency, the new development will provide much needed housing in the area, delivering 34 new homes. Twenty of these will be for the affordable rental market aimed at the over 55s, while the remainder of the properties will be made available for open market sale.

The land receipt generated by the open market sale homes provides cross subsidy for the development of the affordable rented homes, significantly reducing the cash investment required by the council.

Known as Jane's Court, the Seymour Court redevelopment is part of a major reinvestment programme that will see the provision of 140 new homes in the area.

Chris King, managing director of Kier Partnership Homes, said: "By working in partnership with the council as a developer constructor on this exciting redevelopment, we have been able to make a mutually beneficial agreement which will give the local community access to high quality affordable homes."
