Construction union UCATT have welcomed the news that the Metropolitan Police is to conduct a major investigation into allegations that the police colluded with the blacklisting of construction workers the investigation is to be supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The decision to hold the investigation follows mounting evidence that both the police and the security forces were involved in the blacklisting of construction workers via the Consulting Association.
Steve Murphy, General Secretary of UCATT, said: "This is a major step forward in discovering the full truth about blacklisting and winning justice for blacklisted workers.
"As more evidence emerges about the extent of the State’s involvement in blacklisting construction workers, it is essential that this investigation is followed by a full public inquiry into the vile and disgusting practice of blacklisting. Those whose lives were ruined must be given the full facts."
