Morgan Sindall has been appointed by Monmouthshire County Council to build a new £5 million livestock market at Bryngwyn, near Raglan.

The livestock market, to be constructed on a 27-acre site, will hold 300 sheep pens and 150 cattle pens.

The building will comprise a steel frame with timber-cladding and include a lorry and car park, offices and a café.

The new trading facilities will serve the Monmouthshire farming community following the closure of Abergavenny livestock market. The closure of the market is part of a wider regeneration scheme of the town.

Tom Davies, operations manager for Morgan Sindall, said: "We are pleased to be a part of this significant project for Monmouthshire County Council, which will provide the local farming community with modern livestock market facilities.

"A project of this size will have a significant impact on the local economy and we always seek to support the communities in which we work. We will be aiming to appoint around 80 per cent of our sub-contractors from the local supply-chain during this project."
