A £1.35 million scheme to improve the homes of tenants living in sheltered accommodation is now underway.
Salix Homes is working alongside contractors Forrest and Emanuel Whittaker to overhaul more than 100 homes at the Springbank, Heraldic Court and Broomedge sheltered complexes.
Contractors Forrest are now on site at Springbank, off Eccles Old Road, to upgrade the 47 homes at a cost of £450,000.
Work includes new kitchens and bathrooms, complete rewiring, new windows and doors and the installation of necessary equipment and adaptations to improve access.
Following consultation with residents, work will also take place to upgrade the communal areas and improve access.
A £700,000 improvement programme is also underway at Broomedge where 45 homes are being improved; and a further £200,000 is being spent upgrading 22 properties at Heraldic Court.
