A scheme which aims to promote and reward landlords by offering accredited status has been launched at an event in Peterborough.

The Landlord Accreditation Scheme, run in conjunction with the National Landlords Association (NLA) and Peterborough City Council, gives private landlords the recognition of operating and managing properties to a high standard, and was launched at the city's branch meeting of the NLA.

By completing a training course on all aspects of renting property, landlords are being given the opportunity to join the national scheme, adopted and now recognised by Peterborough City Council.

Adam Cliff, scheme representative for Peterborough City Council, said: "The scheme is open to all landlords of privately rented property in the city, and with the benefits and incentives on offer, accreditation can only improve rental and management standards in the city, and reward those who currently operate to high standards. The scheme gives recognition to landlords and enables them to promote themselves as being competent after completing a foundation course. This will set them above the rest in a highly competitive market."

Benefits to landlords who join the scheme include free advice seminars and workshops on all aspects of operating and managing private rented properties, discounted Energy Performance Certificates, a certificate of recognition, and access to the NLA library and services.
