Interserve Scoops Contract With ESS

Interserve has been awarded a contract with ESS Support Services Worldwide (ESS), to provide soft facilities management services at five Royal Navy establishments in the southwest.

This new three-year contract with ESS – the specialist defence, offshore and remote catering and support services division of Compass Group – will commence in May 2013 and is part of the Fleet Outsourced Activities Project (FOAP), which will be managed by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

Valued at more than £15 million, Interserve will deliver stores and logistics, motor transport and administrative support, including pay, at HMS Collingwood, HMS Sultan, HMS Excellent, HMS Raleigh and the Britannia Royal Naval College.

The project is part of a strategic move by the DIO to migrate towards more Multi Activity Contracts across its estate and is therefore the pre-curser to the next generation of soft facilities management contracts to be placed between 2014 and 2017.

Brian Talbot, managing director - defence at Interserve said: "We have a long history of working in partnership with ESS and the DIO so we are pleased to be awarded a contract on this exciting new project. Not only does it reinforce our ability to self-deliver integrated support solutions to the United Kingdom's Armed Forces, it strengthens our relationship with the Royal Navy community in the southwest, where we currently provide support services at the Fleet Accommodation Centre in Devonport Naval Base, Plymouth."
