Peter Boyd has been appointed as Expert Chair of the Energy Efficiency Deployment Office (EEDO), within the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
Peter spent over ten years working for the Virgin Group, including stints in New York and Johannesburg, and is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Carbon War Room, an independent global, non-profit that seeks to accelerate entrepreneurial solutions to profitable, 'gigaton-scale' reductions in carbon emissions.
Secretary of State, Edward Davey, said: "I am delighted that Peter Boyd has been recruited to this important post. Peter will bring valuable experience in rolling out major programmes from his time with the Virgin Group to his current role at Carbon War Room, and I am very confident that he will make a major contribution to the energy efficiency agenda."
Mr Boyd said: "Energy efficiency is not only central to tackling dangerous climate change but it is good for business. At the Carbon War Room, we have found this to be a multi-billion dollar global market opportunity. I look forward to helping increase EEDO's positive impact as it takes forward this challenging and crucial agenda, and help seize the opportunity for the UK to lead the world in this area."
