Willmott Dixon has been selected by ISIS Waterside Regeneration for phase one of a regeneration that will ultimately see 520 new homes built at Brentford Lock West to create a vibrant new community in the heart of Brentford.
The company has secured a £30 million contract to build 150 homes that will comprise a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and townhouses, all for private sale beside Grand Union Canal. The scope also includes commercial units in three retained art deco buildings.
It's the first stage of a masterplan that will deliver a range of homes that maximises the water frontage and outdoor space along the banks of the Grand Union Canal to create a waterside community with residential, commercial and leisure space.
Tim Carpenter, managing director for Willmott Dixon Housing, said: "It's fantastic that ISIS Waterside Regeneration has chosen us to build the first phase of what will be a tremendous addition to Brentford, bringing together a new community that will rejuvenate this area. The development will create a sustainable and thriving waterside community that responds directly to what the local community have said they want and need.
"Willmott Dixon and ISIS Waterside Regeneration have a shared vision of sustainable development, and at Brentford, the scheme will benefit from a range of measures to use sustainable energy, including district heating, green roofs, roof top allotments and PV panels. In addition, improvements will be made to the moorings available to maximise the benefits of waterside living."
The first homes are due to be completed in winter 2013, with a marketing hub established on the site in spring 2013. The entire phase one will be handed over in autumn 2014.
