CAD 21 Building Services Consultants along with the team Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Laing O'Rourke, MAAP, Arup, Summers Inman and Turner & Townsend were recognised in achieving excellence for the Ferndene project in Prudhoe Northumberland.
The project is a 42 bed Medium Secure and Learning Difficulties Mental Health facility consisting of 4 wards and Shared activity centre based on part of existing site at Prudhoe Hospital. Incorporated into the design is high efficiency air source heat pump boilers, off ward maintenance, extensive BMS controls for thermostatic mixing valve testing, push button sanitary ware, hot water monitoring and on-demand ventilation. The electrical design incorporated photovoltaic solar panels, fully sub-metered LV installation and Energy efficient lighting systems incorporating daylight dimming control and presence detectors all of which assisted in achieving design stage BREEAM Excellent standard.
