The Costain team working on the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Framework, welcomed fifteen local students to the site of a new service reservoir at Coed Dolwyd, Glan Conwy, to help develop their skills and provide encouragement for the future construction workers within the local industry.

The students from Coleg Llandrillo, who are studying a BTEC in construction, were given an exclusive behind the scenes look of the site to see 'first hand' what goes into the development of such a significant project.

The day was tailored to support the students in their studies with a particular focus on health and safety, the design, programme, procurement, site procedures, and technology and techniques used during the construction process.

Dave Roberto, Higher Education Co-ordinator from Coleg Llandrillo, said: "The visit was a great opportunity for the students to gain a first-hand perspective into the construction process of a large scale project. The team did a really good job in bringing to life key concepts of the construction process."

The new 25 megalitre service reservoir at Coed Dolwyd, Glan Conwy will provide additional storage for treated water and will benefit people in Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, the Conwy Valley and surrounding areas. It will enable Welsh Water to store enough drinking water to supply the needs of customers during the highest demand periods, and stop those at the extremities of this water supply network from experiencing low water pressure.
