It may have been 10 years in the making but it took less than 12 months in construction to achieve a 'soft opening' prior to the Queen's Jubilee and Olympic Celebrations.

Applied Landscape secured a site phase role as Landscape Design Project Managers – supporting the design team West 8, Frosts the Landscape Contractor, the Client Team Southbank Employers Group and the Jubilee Gardens Trust.

Whilst a little wet, Her Majesty the Queen unveiled a new plaque to commemorate her visit and formally opened the gardens on the 25th October 2012.

The gardens were first created in 1977 to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee and the plaque she unveiled then was also on display.

The royal party was welcomed by Sir David Brewer, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, the Mayor and Mayoress of Lambeth, Kate Hoey MP and Ted Inman, chair of the Jubilee Gardens Trust.
