BAM To Deliver £10m Building In Aylesbury

BAM Construction is to deliver a £10 million new building in Aylesbury as the contractor continues to shape Buckinghamshire's educational estate.

The purpose built three-storey university technical college will be situated on the Aylesbury College campus and hold 600 students aged 14 to 19.

The project, for Buckinghamshire County Council, comes after BAM secured three other education projects in the county.

The contractor was appointed earlier this year for Chiltern Hills Academy; Aylesbury Vale Academy; and Berryfields Primary and Nursery School.

In recent years it has also completed work on Cressex Community School in Wycombe, and a redevelopment of Aylesbury College.

BAM's head office is in nearby Hemel Hempstead.

Buckinghamshire UTC will focus on IT and specialist construction. The building will include advanced IT networks and bespoke workshops to give teachers and students the best facilities for their subjects.

Sustainability measures include photovoltaic cells on the roof and natural ventilation of learning spaces.

Groundworks are underway and a formal ground turning ceremony will be held later this month. Completion is scheduled for October 2013.
