Local residents will have the chance to view the spectacular plans for Alexandra Park, Whalley Range, at an open day on Saturday 1st December.
The park received £2.2 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of their Parks for People programme and funding from national sports organisations including £135,000 from Sport England to help restore the park to its former Victorian glory.
The plans will be available to view at the Children's Centre in the middle of Alexandra Park from 11am until 4pm, members of the design team will be on hand to answer any questions the public might have.
The park will see physical improvements relating to its original design. The Pavilion will be restored and extended, becoming a hub of community activity, the back of the Pavilion will also be opened up to overlook the lake. Chorlton Lodge will also be restored creating office space and community space.
Footpaths and the oval lawns in the park will be reinstated where the original designs have been lost and historic features, such as the water fountain and flagstaff, will be restored.
The regeneration of the park will also give the local community the opportunity to become more involved, giving them the chance to learn more about its heritage and how they can help look after the park.
