Affordable housing contractor, Wates Living Space has celebrated the completion of its 20,000th property refurbishment in the Black Country in ten years, marking a significant milestone in its housing construction and refurbishment work across the area.
Wates' presence in the Black Country has so far seen the contractor complete a mixture of refurbished and brand new homes for the region’s Local Authorities and housing associations.
Joining Wates to celebrate the milestone was resident of the landmark property in Pendeford, Mrs Rose Beaden, whose home refurbishments were delivered by Wates on behalf of social housing service provider, Bromford Group.
Work on Mrs Beaden's property included painting and new flooring to the kitchen, as well as the installation of new cupboards, a ventilation system and a new kitchen sink. Wates also upgraded the bathroom to include a walk in shower to enhance the property’s mobility access.
Mrs Beaden commented: "I couldn't be happier with the team at Wates Living Space. I could tell that they really cared about the refurbishments my home needed, they weren’t at all disruptive and the work was all finished in the time they said it would take. I loved having them around and they have done wonders for my quality of life. My home has been transformed!"
Stewart Reid, Business Director for Wates Living Space West, added: "It is with great pride that we reach this important milestone in the Black Country. This 20,000th home means that the Black Country accounts for about 20% of the almost 100,000 homes that we have worked on in the West Midlands, showing how important the area is to our business."
